Preview. A design draft for board review. The marching band competition schedule is real; board names, contact details, and donation and swag links are still placeholders.

About Sachem BEAT

Sachem BEAT exists so that no student misses out on a performance, a festival, or a trip because of what it costs.

We are parents, guardians, and community members supporting performing arts across the Sachem Central School District. Band, chorus, orchestra, and theater, from elementary through high school, in every building.

What we fund

The board sets priorities each year with input from the district's performing arts directors. In practice, most of what we raise goes to four things:

  • Competition and festival entry fees, and the travel to get there
  • Instruments and equipment
  • NYSSMA and SCMEA fees for participating students
  • Building-level requests that come up during the school year

When a student's family cannot cover a fee, we would rather quietly cover it than have that student sit out. Ask a director.

How the club works

There is no membership fee and no minimum commitment. Board meetings are open to any parent or guardian of a Sachem performing arts student, and meeting dates are on the events page.

Most of the work is a few people doing small, specific jobs: running a concession stand, driving a trailer, counting a cash box, sending an email. If you have an hour, there is something useful you can do with it.

Our relationship to the district

Sachem BEAT is an independent booster club. We are not affiliated with or operated by the Sachem Central School District, we do not speak for the district, and we have no role in curriculum, staffing, casting, or chair placement.

We work alongside the district's performing arts directors, who tell us what their students need. Questions about a program, a grade, or a placement belong with the building, not with us.
